FOUR HORSES

Four Hourses @ Tate Britain
Four Horses, a composition for orchestra and everyday objects, was written by Freya Ireland for a performance at Tate Britain by musicians from the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
The piece took its starting point from the idea of a fairground carousel which gradually gets broken. The four horses on the carousel each have different characters, which can be heard as the carousel spins around. Along with regular orchestral instruments the work called for balloons, knives and forks, coffee cups and other household objects.
