Founded by Peter Ireland
and Elizabeth Swift in 1990,
VOID makes performance and installation work in collaboration with actors, musicians, video and digital artists, robotics engineers and designers.
The company's initial work
in the early nineties stemmed from an interest in science fiction
novels Some productions make use of varied technology - everything from slide projectors to robots - alongside performer/technicians. Classical theatre texts regularly appear as source material in these pieces. More recent work has used non narrative text and theatrical notions of time and space alongside technological concepts of interactivity and virtual space. Our current work is exploring the place of performance in Second Life and other virtual worlds.
